The Lincoln is a fighter plane. In the mid-1940s, Avro decided to re-launch its four-engine programme due to the poor performance of the Manchester aircraft. The new scheme could use 75 per cent Manchester components, with major changes concentrated in the mid-wing redesign to accommodate four engines.
